Hi. I appreciate you. ❤️ To anyone who has hosted me in their home or club or had me on a show, to anyone who has purchased an album or streamed a song or added it to a playlist or licensed my music for a film or tv show or ad, to anyone who has told a friend about my music or danced to a song and put it in their IG story, to anyone who has watched my web series #INDIEpendentWoman, to anyone who has listened to my podcasts or radio shows, to anyone who has told a friend, “check out this artist / song / album,” THANK YOU! You mean so much to me. You make a difference. You keep me writing and playing and creating and singing. You keep that connection alive. Sometimes I cringe at the word “fan” or at the thought of even saying I have “fans” because it feels self-congratulatory or conceited, but I’m realizing that I cut myself off from having a real relationship with people who like my music and the things I make by not acknowledging how lucky I am to have you all in my corner and how much I appreciate and need all of your support (that was a run-on sentence)! I’m going to start leaning into this relationship more and more, and for now, it feels like the first step toward getting over this fear (of acknowledging that I have fans and am worthy of having them) is saying THANK YOU. (Lovely photo by katefennermusic who sent me this carefully arranged, pretty pile of flower petals on a tough day)
