Last month I moved to the happiest nation on earth 🌍

So why wasn’t I happy?

Despite gallivanting around the world for 43 years, travelling to far-flung places and being the kind of person who can happily talk my way out of an AK47 in my face, I found myself asking:

Why am I not happy in the happiest nation on Earth?

Here’s my hypothesis 👇🏽

We’re always so intent on finding the quick fixes, the next big thing to dive into, that we forget about the things that truly anchor us.

The ropes we’ve tied that tether us back to stability.

Our foundation, our base.

Those regular, anchoring rituals -

The seat in the corner of my local coffee shop, the kind servers making my cacao the minute I cross the threshold.

It’s the yoga studio that cracks your heart open and makes you look at the world with fresh, bright eyes.

The friends who happily go to Ministry of Sound to see your favourite DJ until 0400.

No one really talks about this.

We’re so busy looking ahead that we forget to truly honour and acknowledge those powerful anchoring rituals.

So take a moment and reflect:

What are the regular things you do, the places you go, the people you see who keep you anchored?

Acknowledge and appreciate them.

And if you haven’t found them yet.

You will...just like me from Copenhagen.

Onwards with the journey,

Yet knowing the journey is the destination.
