🎉 Exciting news 🎉 The Prebys Foundation just awarded funding to 23 organizations in an effort to advance mental and emotional well-being within San Diego’s youth, and Girl Scouts San Diego is one of the recipients! This investment will propel us on our mission to build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. 🌎 prebysfound

Here are quick remarks from GSSD CEO, Carol M Dedrich on what this means for our organization:

“The rise of mental health challenges within girls is an unfortunate, stark reality. Girl Scouts San Diego is a solution. In addition to our long-standing programs that promote mental wellness, last year, we introduced Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) training for adults, an early intervention public education program that teaches our volunteers how to recognize signs and symptoms of mental health challenges in youth, give reassurance, and refer them to appropriate services. With this vital investment from the Prebys Foundation, we can significantly accelerate our efforts with the YMHFA training initiative. It is through partnerships with trusted adults—staff, volunteers, camp counselors—that we can create a safe space for girls to build connections, grow confidence, and instill hope for their futures.”
