We're thrilled to announce the inaugural recipient of the Leonard Mandel Quantum Optics Award, H. Jeff Kimble! 

An Optica Emeritus, Kimble's research covers quantum optics, quantum metrology and quantum information science, including the creation of manifestly quantum states of the optical field and its applications. 

As the Mandel Award recipient, Kimble is recognized for his extraordinary work establishing the core technologies based on squeezed light for quantum sensing and communications.
