One of my traditional side dishes for Thanksgiving is this from-scratch green bean casserole. It is so delicious
and is worth the time it takes with every smile it brings to the table! Everything was purchased in-store at my
local Hannaford, and I chose store brands for my recipe to help keep the price down. If you prefer to shop
online, you can opt for Hannaford to Go grocery pickup or delivery!

Ingredients:
- 1 3/4 lbs. fresh green beans
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 medium onion
- chopped 8 ounces of mushrooms- any kind
- 4 garlic cloves
- 5 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 3 cups whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 6 ounces Hannaford Fried Onions

Directions: Trim green beans, and set aside. Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add green beans to the pot for 4
minutes. Prepare a large bowl with ice water and transfer the green beans to it. Pat green beans dry.

Sauce: Preheat butter in a large skillet, add onions and mushrooms; saute. Press garlic and add it to the pan.
Sprinkle flour over veggies and coat. Slowly start adding the milk followed by the cream while whisking. Season
with salt & pepper.

Spray an 11 x 13 casserole with nonstick spray. Add green beans, and 3 ounces of onion strings; mix everything.
Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes at 375 F. Once done, sprinkle on the remaining onions and enjoy!
