It’s a golden birthday for Golden Spike National Historic Park! Well….not really, but shouldn’t every birthday be golden?

Golden Spike National Historic Park in Promontory, Utah, commemorates the meeting of the Central Pacific Railroad and Union Pacific Railroad on May 10th, 1869, that completed the first transcontinental railroad in the United States. When the two railroads met, a golden spike was used to signify that the country was now connected from coast to coast!

Every year, Golden Spike National Historic Park conducts a recreation of the meeting of the railroads with costumes and champagne!
