#DidYouKnow that southern flying squirrels have a special membrane between their front and back legs that allows them to glide through the air between trees. By eight weeks they can execute 90-degree turns, lateral loops, and other flying maneuvers.

Populated throughout the eastern US, this species is known to be able to glide up to 300 feet on one flight continuously!
