The Student Activities Board at LSU and lsu_oma will present Same God on March 27. This documentary film follows the story of Dr. Larycia Hawkins, an African-American political science professor at Wheaton College—a prestigious Christian school outside of Chicago—who wanted to show support for Muslim women. She posted a photo of herself in a hijab on Facebook, asserting that Christians and Muslims worshipped the same God.

The film focuses on the journey of Dr. Hawkins as Wheaton’s Provost moved to terminate her tenure just days following the post, and the subsequent reverberations throughout theological and educational communities around the country. Dr. Hawkins story explores the polarization taking place within religious communities over the issues of race, Islam and religious freedom.

The March 27 screening will be accompanied by a panel discussion featuring film director and Wheaton College alumna Linda Midgett.
