Head Coach Gary Astalos came to the MD1 team in May of 2016 after another season that came and went with a loss in the first game of the National Tournament with a team that many thought should be going further than just one and done. .
.
The 2016-17 season was met with great anticipation and started out strong with only one loss in the first semester against Davenport and ended with a heartbreaking loss in the national semifinals, the first time the team reached the national semifinals. .
.
The next season was marked by three titles, GLCHL Regular Season, GLCHL Playoff and National Championship titles. .
.
During the 2017-18 season, Coach Astalos would reach 50 wins in only his 54th game behind the bench as he became the quickest Adrian Hockey coach to 50 wins. .

That season, Astalos was named both GLCHL and ACHA Coach of the Year. .
.
The 2018-19 season ended in the National Quarterfinals, but Coach Astalos picked up his 100th win in his 107th game coached at the tournament and now posts a record of 120-8 through three and a half seasons coached. .
.
Not only did Coach Astalos bring with him a drive and ability to win games and recruit top of the line players, but a mantra of a commitment to excellence that he teaches by example. .
