Best of the Decade #5: Brad Kobryn Finishes Career as Second Highest Scorer in ACHA History

You’ll be hard pressed to find a player who made more of an immediate impact on a program the same way that Brad Kobryn did in his freshman year with your MD1 Bulldogs. Coming out of the gates hot with 6 goals in his first two games as a Bulldog, Kobryn would become the first player on any Adrian team to post a 50 goal season his freshman year when he put up 55 goals and 22 assists for 77 points, tied for the entire program’s record for points in a single season. .

Kobryn, the program’s first four time First Team All American, won nearly every award that the GLCHL and ACHA offered, winning the Player of the Year award in his freshman and junior season and finishing as a finalist for the award his senior year behind teammate Austyn Roudebush. He scored 64 more goals than the highest scoring player in the NCAA team’s history and 67 more goals than the highest scoring D1 player in team history. .

Kobryn’s name is at the top of nearly every team record for points and goals whether it be in a career or season, his four seasons played are the four top records for points in a single season and he leads the team’s history in points per game. He then became the first MD1 player to play pro hockey in North American when he signed a PTO with the SPHL’s Huntsville Havoc after his senior season. .

Kobryn made his debut at Adrian with a two goal game against the Lindenwood Lions and finished his career with a two goal game in the National Championship game in March of 2018, cementing his place as the second highest scoring player in ACHA history, a more than fitting send off for the program’s most prolific goal scorer. .
