Often when we bring up speed in baseball it’s about stealing bases, but speed plays a much more vital role in defense.

Because of the short distances involved in the game, players rarely, if ever, achieve maximum speed and in actuality, it is acceleration that plays a much greater role in baseball.

The ability to turn and accelerate at any given moment in a split second when a ball is hit 100+ mph off of the bat.

You have a spit second to be able to turn and get your body into position and then accelerate and make a play.

Could be the difference between getting an out and letting a run score. 

The difference between winning and losing.
