A Top Ranking Scholar and member of the Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honor Society, Phillip displayed his devotion to music and education as a saxophonist for the Morehouse House of Funk (morehouseband) and an honor roll student.⁠

In his commitment to leadership, and with the support of Morehouse Director of Bands Dr. Chad Hughes, Phillip led a group of 19 band members to petition the rechartering of the Iota Theta chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity at Morehouse College in 2023.⁠
