“The stories I share were filmed in the mountains, where the landscape plays a vital role in setting the mood and tone of the scenes, providing coherence to the narrative. The high viewpoint offers open landscapes with unique views, allowing observation and filming in all directions. The changing of the seasons is marked not only by time but also by altitude.  
 Shooting in mountainous locations can be quite challenging, often requiring long walks off the trail with all equipment packed in backpacks The mountain environment is harsh, and the conditions varying depending on the season: extremely cold with snow in the winter, rainy in autumn, and hot with no shade in summer.  Being fit and healthy is essential to tackle these challenges, but growing up in a mountainous landscape, these challenges are not unfamiliar to me and can actually be quite enjoyable. The pure air, clean water, and the ability to see the entire landscape give me a powerful feeling that we belong there and that we should take care of our earth.
 
I need a camera that is tough enough to withstand harsh, distinctive climatic conditions, is lightweight and easy to carry, and has the capability to capture high resolutions in great detail. The RED HELIUM 8K, and previously the RED EPIC-X, offered me all those features. Additionally, I can combine equipment (i.e., lenses, filters, and gimbals) from different manufacturers without compromising the cinematic quality and dynamic range. The pre-recording function is also an important highlight, as when filming wildlife, I do not want to miss important moments of behaviour. Slow motion is also an essential feature that adds high value to my wildlife productions. The footage from RED cameras provides me with endless possibilities when it comes to editing, including the benefits of raw REDCODE files and the ability to crop footage substantially without losing quality.” - Wildlife Cinematographer Ana Luisa Santos
