👋🏼Hi! I'm Michelle - the Pediatric Audiologist behind mama.hu.hears. I grew up utilizing hearing aids and am now a bilateral cochlear implant recipient.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My mind is sneaky and it tricks me now and then. Usually on challenging days where I may not have gotten enough sleep or food. I might get stuck for a little while, wallow in the muck, play victim, kick, scream and pout however long it takes to satisfy my need to feel the lows of being human. It's really not usually that long. With such amazing community support, who usually sees me and gently reminds me who the best version of myself is, it's hard not to be reminded that who I am and how I handle life matters more than flaw or little detail that I may have.

How did I "overcome" this? I personally haven't completely as I still have moments here and there but that's okay. For me it's more a matter of accepting that I'm human, that hearing loss is only a small part of me, it gives me a story to tell and that life goes on. It's the WHAT and HOW I do with it that gives me more energy and love for life. It's all about perspective!
