These are some of the random, every-which-way kind of thoughts and conversations that I had with myself before I met my husband. 

💕 I remember hanging out with friends at a noisy bar. Upon returning to our table from the bathroom someone said "Michelle! Three guys tried to talk to you and you just walked right by them!" "Oh really? Oops...I didn't hear them!" I said laughing it off. I've been called rude, snobby, told that I don't care - the list goes on. Please know that I didn't mean it and that I DO care! I've always addressed my hearing loss with people if it came up - but the dating world is a whole 'nother story! Dating is nerve-wracking, exciting, exhausting and fun - it brings out every emotion possible! Unfortunately, sometimes people discover I have a disability and it's the only thing/first thing they "see." One date once ended with the comment, "You know, you should have put your hearing loss in your dating profile. I want to have kids one day and that would have affected if we met up or not." OUCH! Buh-bye, you are NOT for me. 

💕I've absolutely had my down moments of feeling broken, wishing I didn't have to utilize devices, being tired and worn out from working hard to hear/listen all day and comparing myself to others. 

💕The challenges and the difficulties are REAL but suffering is optional. 

💕That incident could have prompted me to hide but it actually did the opposite. Being DHH (especially with good technology, good speech and if I wear my hair down) is pretty darn near invisible. Over the years I've learned to be upfront and forthcoming about my hearing loss. It's ME that doesn't want to miss what YOU have to say! My hair is often pulled back showing off my CI processors and I will usually take the first chance to say "Excuse me, what you have to say is important to me, could you speak up/slow down?" Within 15 min of meeting, I took my (now) husband's hand and had him feel the bump of my cochlear implant under my skin - but hey, he stuck around didn't he 😂 Please leave some dating stories in the comments, I love hearing your stories, good AND bad. ...
