The University of Wisconsin-Superior has announced Bri Simon as head coach of the Women’s Ice Hockey program after the conclusion of a national search. Her first day will be Tuesday, May 7th.

Simon becomes the sixth coach in the program’s history, which dates back to 1998.

Prior to her hiring, Simon spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach at Elmira College helping the Soaring Eagles to a 44-14-1 overall record. That includes being the National Runner-Up this past season with a loss to UW-River Falls and a spot in the #NEHC Championship in 2023.

Prior to Elmira, Simon spent two years, including one as co-head coach, of the girls hockey program at Minnesota high school hockey powerhouse Gentry Academy. Simon helped them to a 41-11-0 record over her two seasons & two appearances in the Minnesota State High School Hockey Tournament, including one berth in the state championship game.

Simon, an Elk River, MN native, is a 2020 graduate of Hamline University with a bachelor’s degree in public health. Simon was a decorated player in her time with the Pipers holding the all-time records for goals (92), assists (93) and points (185) and was the 2019 Laura Hurd Award winner, which is given to the top player in #NCAA Division III women’s hockey. Her 185 points are also more than double of any player in program history. Simon was also a three-time CCM/AHCA West First Team All-American.
