#RAISEIT63 ROBBERY BY THE BAY!! The Pirates take away what seemed like a sure win for the Giants by rallying for a 4-run ninth inning to capture a 6-4 victory! The Giants struck early with one on the board in the first, a score that held until the 5th where the Pirates evened it up via Jacob Stallings’s 5th HR of the year. Stallings has come into his own this year at the plate as the number two catcher on the depth chart, and though he may not have the best statistics to back that up, you can just tell by watching his plate presence and clutch hitting ability. The teams exchanged a few more runs in the following innings where the score ended up being 4-2 Giants after 6. Trevor Williams didn’t pitch too well in what might be considered an average start that could’ve been worse. He wasn’t able to finish the 6th where Michael Feliz bailed him out before the situation could result in further damage. Williams’s line: 5.2 IP, 8 H, 4 R/ER, 3 BB, 6 SO. Wish I knew what’s gotten into Trev this season after spending a bit of time on the injured list. I mean, I didn’t expect him to be as good as last year, but he’s pitching to the point where he shouldn’t be guaranteed a spot in the rotation next year. Anyway, scoreless appearances from both Yacksel Rios and Richard Rodriguez brought the Pirates to the ninth down 2. Kevin Kramer singled to begin the inning. Josh Bell kept it going with a 1-out walk. Elias Diaz’s single gave the Pirates a bases loaded situation, where Kevin Newman delivered, driving in a pair on a liner out to Giants’ RF Jaylin Davis. Bryan Reynolds broke the tie with a bloop base hit out to center field. That was before the Pirates added a key insurance run when San Fran failed to record an out on force play that led to a sac fly by Jose Osuna. Felipe Vázquez did his thing, striking out two and inducing a ground out to Buster Posey for the 1-2-3 inning and the Bucco win. Wasn’t pretty, but the offense came through in the end for a solid comeback effort. Game two of the series is tonight at the same 9:45 EST start time. LET’S GO BUCS!! #ProtectTheShip #LetsGoBucs
