The Pirates have released their schedule for the 2019 season! Read below for important dates and matchups.

Opening Day/Home Opener: The Pirates will open the season against the Reds in Cincinnati on March 28th of next year, the first time since the 98-win season of 2015 that Opening Day will be in the Queen City for the Bucs. A few days later on Monday, April 1st, #OpeningDayPNC will take place against another division rival, the St. Louis Cardinals.

Interleague Play: The Pirates will face their interleague rival Tigers in their annual meetings in two mini series, one where the Pirates travel to Detroit in April, while the other two game set will be home in June. Pittsburgh will go up against a strong AL West division in all other matchups with American League teams. We host the following ALW clubs: Oakland Athletics (5/3-5/5), Texas Rangers (5/7-5/8), and the Seattle Mariners (9/17-9/19). On the road, the Bucs are to face the Rangers once again (4/30-5/1) as well as the Houston Astros (6/25-6/27) and the Los Angeles Angels (8/12-8/14).

Holidays: The Pirates will be in Cincy to take on the Reds for Memorial Day that lies on May 27th of next year. We will also host the Cubs to celebrate the Fourth of July next year in a 4:05 EST start time. The black and gold will take part in Labor Day the right day by taking a day off on September 2nd.

Little League Classic: Similar to 2016, Rob Manfred announced that the Pirates will be taking part in the yearly Little League Classic. This time the Cubs will be the away team as the clubs travel to Williamsport’s Bowman Field on August 18th, 2019.

All Star Break: Next year’s ASB will come more than a week early. July 8th marks the 2019 Home Run Derby followed by the Mid-Summer Classic on the 9th. Prior the break, just like this year, the Pirates will match up with the Milwaukee Brewers at home.

End of the Season: The Pirates will close the 2019 season with a 6 game home stand. They will play three versus the Cubs and three versus the Reds to end the year, which will hopefully end up being crucial games in the playoff race for the Pirates.
