#RAISEIT1 Well, that's one way to win. In a VERY sloppy and wild game, the Pirates came out victorious with a final score of 13-10 on Opening Day against the Tigers! Gregory Polanco (gpolanco25) hit the game winning 3 run home run in the top of the 13th to send the Bucs fans home happy.
As you can see, this game was very offense-oriented. Corey Dickerson (coreydickerson) collected his first hit as a Bucco which happened to knock in the first run of the season for the Pirates. Going back to Polanco, he started his 2018 campaign strong by driving in 4 runs on three hits. Francisco Cervelli (fran_cervelli) and Josh Bell (bell.josh19) each recorded 3 RBI games in the win.
For the most part, the Pirates were very shaky in the pitching department. Ivan Nova (inova47) got the start for Pittsburgh this afternoon and ended up with a final line of: 5 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 4 SO. It could have been a lot worse, but the veteran avoided 2 bases loaded no out jams.
Michael Feliz (michaelfeliz68) and Felipe Rivero (felipe_43rivero) struggled mightily, each surrendering 4 runs in their first outings on the year. Rivero's was especially surprising after he blew the 10-6 lead the Bucs had going into the bottom of the 9th inning. However, there were some bright spots with scoreless outings by Neverauskas (dneverauskas), Kontos, and Santana (edgarsantana37). Steven Brault (skoobuh) struck out 3 in 3 strong innings, picking up the win after Greg's game winning dinger.
The Pirates will play the Tigers again tomorrow at 1:10 where Trevor Williams (mellamotrevor) will make his first start of the season. Let's Go Bucs! #LetsGoBucs #BUCN
