## Caption

Your brain can only take in a small fraction of what's going on around you.

Think about it: If you're in a coffee shop, you might remember the coffee you drank and the person you ordered from, but do you know the color of the shirt of the guy sitting behind you when you first sat down? It was technically in your environment, but your brain wouldn't have bothered to take it in.

Which means, by choosing what your brain focuses on, you can literally create your own reality. That's why taking photos during your travels is one of the most important things you can do. And no, it's not for great Insta photos (although who are we to be talking?)

Taking photos is one of the best ways to program your brain to pay attention -- close attention -- to your surroundings. You're literally seeing things through a different lens (see what we did there?), and you're training yourself to focus on the fun, exciting, different and unique around you. It's easier to practice in your travels, and the more you do, the more you'll start to notice those amazing things in every part of your life, no matter where you are.
