My mom told me I was throwing my life away.
And from their vantage, it was probably the right advice to give.
Just because someone has your best interest at heart doesn’t mean they know whats better for you than you do.

Don’t expect your clan to be on board. Don’t take that as an indication that you’re on the wrong path, usually the opposite is true.
Your past doesn’t have to be the best indicator of your future if you’re willing to get out of your comfort zone and fail in new ways.

Now, my parents don’t even remember telling me to stay at a law firm and we’re on better terms than we’ve ever been.
They tell me how they always knew it was going to work out— I don’t try to correct them.
