When it comes to booking your plane ticket, there's so much more to consider than the schedule and ticket price.

There's no way around it – if you want to travel around the world, it's pretty likely that you're going to hop on a plane, and that's not so great when it comes to cutting down emissions.

But doing your part for the environment doesn't mean giving up flying altogether (although working in some close-to-home adventures can certainly help.) Instead, take the time to be thoughtful about the airlines you choose by researching airlines that are actively working to improve their eco-friendliness. Air France KLM and Easyjet, for example, are committed to cutting down their fuel efficiency and redesigning their aircraft to reduce noise pollution.

And if eco-friendly airlines aren't taking off from the gates at your local airport, you can do your part by choosing non-stop flights as often as possible. It may cost a bit more, but you'll cut down on fuel usage while avoiding that awkward 45-minute layover that leaves you stressing to make your next flight. Everybody wins.
