my first album VITAL came out 6 years ago yesterday : a thread

i spoke a lot about how my dad had passed away suddenly in 2015 and part of this record was made while he was alive.. and the other... while he was gone. there’s a huge difference to me between which songs came before and which came after 

you don’t plan to make an album and for life to LIFE at you … but I think about this song and how he never heard it and it makes me sad. 

HOME has always been a hard concept for me. Not sure I have the words for it but I have connected with so many of you because of this song and I love that. 

all this to say - it was my first album. i am still really proud of it even though i only play a few songs from it still. what i wasn’t prepared for was having to play and talk about an album that was mostly a grieving process of my dad and a coming of age in a way .. and having to show up to that record really took a toll on my body and mental health.

i’m so grateful for the ones i met and will always say ‘you are what is vital to me’ and i will mean every word of it.
