The sports world is stacked with talent. Everyone in this field can shoot and edit, and it’s even more common now that everyone can also do graphic design, motion graphics, sound design, etc. So, it’s not enough to just be a good creative. Just like how good audio can make or break a video, soft-skills can do the same for you. Communication, time management, problem-solving, teamwork/leadership, empathy, etc. All of these these qualities are essential for breaking in and working in this industry, especially because you’ll more than likely be working in some kind of hybrid marketing role, rather than just football.

When I’m shooting on the blackmagicnewsofficial #6kpro I’m usually exposing about a full stop +1 above, but if I’m shooting on the canonusa #c70 I’m exposed pretty evenly. Both cameras have honestly been super forgiving. 

“𝙒𝙃𝘼𝙏’𝙎 𝙔𝙊𝙐𝙍 𝘼𝙋𝙀𝙍𝙏𝙐𝙍𝙀?”
I feel like when I first started shooting, I was always trying to shoot as wide open as I could. I still love shooting f/2.8 and under, especially if I’m trying to emphasis bokeh, but I’ve found that some of my best stuff is always around f/4-5.6. It gives me a good balance of foreground/background separation and overall sharpness. Plus, it’s a lot more forgiving when I’m trying to follow action and keep focus.
