dallascowboys game day, frame by frame. 

“𝘿𝙊 𝙔𝙊𝙐 𝙇𝙊𝙂 𝙀𝙑𝙀𝙍𝙔 𝘾𝙇𝙄𝙋?”
Yup. Logging footage has got to be the most annoying, but necessary evil in our line of work 😫 Without it, it’s complete anarchy, and there’s no way we’re able stay organized and work efficiently throughout the season. It’s the foundation for how we’re able to flip clips so quickly to our social team and to the players. And, it’s how we’re able to execute on over a 1,000 videos a year.

“𝙃𝙊𝙒 𝙈𝘼𝙉𝙔 𝘾𝙇𝙄𝙋𝙎 𝘿𝙊 𝙔𝙊𝙐 𝙎𝙃𝙊𝙊𝙏?”
On average, I’d say I’m shooting anywhere between 350-400 clips for an away game trip, which includes charter, bus, arrival, pregame (sweats), pregame (pads), national anthem, game, and postgame (walk-off/locker room). And then after cutting down and logging my selects, I’ll usually land somewhere around 250-300 clips and around ~500GB of ProRes LT footage.

“𝙒𝙃𝘼𝙏 𝙃𝘼𝙋𝙋𝙀𝙉𝙎 𝘼𝙁𝙏𝙀𝙍 𝙏𝙃𝙀 𝙂𝘼𝙈𝙀 𝙄𝙎 𝙊𝙑𝙀𝙍?”
I’ll use the Chargers game as an example. Immediately following the game, especially a win, a few things have to happen. STEP 1) Run as fast as you can to center-field to capture coaches/players shaking hands and swapping jerseys ✓ STEP 2) Capture player walk-offs & locker room celebrations ✓ STEP 3) Capture post-game locker room speech ✓ STEP 4) Run back to sidelines & immediate start cutting content for social channels ✓STEP 5) Grab gopro from the Spanish booth ✓ STEP 6) Pack gear into our pelican cases and head back to buses to catch our flight (for those wondering, we always fly back home after a game, no matter what time we play or where we’re playing) ✓ STEP 7) Log footage during the flight back ✓

At this game, I was running a sigmaphoto #20mm f/1.4 for all of pregame, with the blackmagicnewsofficial #6kpro  It still had a pretty clinical look, even with it being an art lens and me doing a bunch of post-work, but I still enjoyed it - especially shooting wide open. Might try a #14mm next 👀
