Today marks 5 years since I first started weightlifting. 5 years since adventuresofzach first taught me what a snatch was with the old strength_works crew and gym back in 2019. 

In early 2020 lindenwoodweightlifting as a program was cut from the school and the team was disbanded. And in 2021 the team was reestablished and I was a part of the first team back along with bearrhodes32 sam._.leonard _jennamcclain 

I’m grateful for this sport, I love this sport. Through the injuries, setbacks, and subsequent horrible burnout it’s still stuck with me. 

Even through those hardest moments when I wanted to quit and give up, I had to find a reason to love it. There were times when I wasn’t doing it for me, and that’s when I hated it the most. I learned to show up for myself first. 

And sure I’ve hit plateaus where I’d go months or even years without hitting a new pr. They’d be few and far between, but it makes hitting them that much more enjoyable because I knew how much work and time it took to reach that new level. 

2024 University Nationals will be my 9th competition as a Lion, and my 17th in my career. And I’m so grateful for the friends and memories I’ve made along this journey; most importantly, winning the national title with my team last year, that’s one I’ll never forget. 

To my day 1s here at Lindenwood, I love you guys. 

Be sure to show up for yourself before anyone else. If you’re not loving it why are you doing it?
