After 3-years of delays & repairs, Friendship Fountain reopened this past Thursday, Feb 15, during DTJax Sip & Stroll & I was lucky enough to grab a few pictures throughout the evening, which ended with HushHushJax Silent Disco party at the DoubleTree.

Costing $7.95 million in renovations, Friendship Fountain has a new pavement design around it, new landscaping, & my personal favorite additions (outside of the fountain itself) are the circular cement fixtures you’ll find surrounding the fountain, which not only serve as seating areas, but have speakers built into them that allowed the music / speeches to play seamlessly throughout the park. 

The fountain show we experienced kicked off with Rihanna’s “We Found Love” & apparently no one in attendance has seen the video to know that we were supposed to break into a rave - but, I digress 😅. The show will play every night (weather permitting) for the rest of the month at 7pm, 7:30pm, & 8pm.

**To my historian friends, one of the speakers mentioned that Friendship Fountain was originally called “Seminole Fountain”, but what I’m finding online is that it was called “Fountain of Friendship in Dallas Thomas Park”. Can anyone verify?
