Final nominations have now closed for the 2024 World Classic & Equipped Bench Press Championships and these can be viewed on goodlift.info.  The classic benchers will be on the platform from Wednesday 22nd May until Monday 27th May - please note that the timetable has now been updated and is available on our website.  Link in bio.

Most of the women’s weight classes have fierce battles at the front, judging from the nominations. 

In the 57kg class, last year’s M2 world champion, Sachiko Iwamoto, is competing in the open this year, and she is just 1.5kg ahead of newcomer Jamie Fisher.

In the 57s, Megan Hurlburt is getting some IPF experience under her belt before her full power debut in Lithuania.  She has Alison Huet and Johanna Forsstrom to contend with and they are only a couple of kilos behind.

The top 4 lifters in the 63kg class are all within 5kg of each other and, in the 69s, last year’s junior world champion, Elsa Marin Karlsson will go toe to toe with the 2023 open world champion, Andrea Petrek.  They are a single kilo apart on nominations in what promises to be a hard fought contest.

In the 76s, Chelsea Savit and Xeniya Khan are nominated with exactly the same weight - 130kg.  And in the supers, with last year’s winner absent, Matilda Hjälle and Ágnes Szabó will duke it out for supremacy.

With close match ups in nearly all the weight classes, we are in for some exciting lifting.  At first glance, it seems as though Team Sweden is going to be hard to beat in this category.  However, anything can happen once you get onto the platform.

We have 199 women on the roster in this category and it promises to be a fantastic showcase.  Streamed live on our YouTube channel and Facebook page, with select sessions broadcast live on CBS Sports, you won’t have to miss a moment.
