The IPF will soon be heading to Austin, Texas for its first World Championships of the year - the 2024 World Classic & Equipped Bench Press Championships.  Final nominations have now closed and can be viewed on goodlift.info.  Please be prepared for some slight adjustments to the timetable.  We will publish any updates as soon as they are confirmed.

The equipped part of the event begins on Tuesday 28th May and runs through to Saturday 1st June.  The prime time session on the final three days of the equipped competition will be broadcast live on CBS Sports and there also will be a highlights show covering the whole event broadcast at a later date.

We have a wealth of benching talent at this championship - here are just a few highlights.

Zuzanna Kula is on her way back to full strength after ACL surgery last year.  She came back strong at the UK Arnold in March, breaking the 57kg class bench press world record TWICE and pushing it up to 161kg.

The 76kg class promises to give us a great battle.  Last year’s junior world champion, Airi Sakaguchi, 2021 world champion, Xeniya Khan and 2019 world champion, Natalie Hanson are all nominated within 3kg of each other.  Don’t miss this one!

4 x powerlifting world champion, 2 x bench press world champion and World Games gold medallist, Rhaea Stinn is widely acknowledged as one of the best benchers in the IPF.   However, Zhadyra Bermukhambetova is back this year to challenge and push Rhaea harder than ever before.

In the 84+kg class, we have the biggest female bencher in the IPF - Hildeborg Hugdal.  She benched an incredible 238kg at the UK Arnold - more than any other woman in the IPF.  This year, full power world champion Kate Sweatman will also be in the mix.  Her bench has been improving rapidly and this could be a phenomenal showdown.

With 173 women on the roster, this promises to be a fantastic showcase of equipped benching.  Streamed live on our YouTube channel and Facebook page, with select sessions broadcast live on CBS Sports, you won’t have to miss a moment.
