POV: When your credit card starts offering free Citi Bike memberships, so you get over your fear and start biking everywhere in NYC.

I have started biking to a ton of places, even in the winter, and it’s more efficient than subway sometimes and definitely cheaper than cab or Uber. Plus it’s good exercise!

chasesapphire cardholders can get a free 2 years of lyft Pink, which includes citibike memberships! 

About the credit card: I did a roundup of benefits almost 2 years ago so guess it’s time for another mini one. Yes, this is a $500+ credit card, but it pays for itself:
-$300 in travel credit
-Global entry or TSA pre check reimbursement ($100)
-Lyft Pink with Citi Bike membership ($205 annually)
-$5 monthly DoorDash credit ($60/ year)
-$15 monthly InstaCart credit ($180/year)
-$10 monthly GoPuff credit ($120/year)
-60,000 points for new cardholders which is $900 to redeem for travel
-Try calling to negotiate your renewal fee. People have gotten up to 150 off the renewal!

Helmet is is also free from NYC Vision Zero. They give out helmets at NYC Summer Streets and other events in the spring & summer!

For anyone else, Citi Bike membership is $200 a year, which is less than $1 a day. If you want to use Citi Bike weekly, it’s a really good value. Note: Individuals who receive SNAP benefits or live in NYCHA housing may also be eligible for a reduced Citi Bike monthly rate for $5/month. Plus, you can sign up for Citi Bike Angels program. By helping to redistribute bikes you can get rewards like free membership, eBike credit & more!
