Kinjal Akbari BSN, RN chose nursing due to her passion for helping others. As her career progressed, she discovered another rewarding aspect — an exceptional team surrounding her at City of Hope Orange County.

𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐚 𝐧𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞? I've always had a deep-seated passion for helping others and making a meaningful difference in people's lives. Becoming a nurse felt like the natural extension of that desire. The opportunity to provide compassionate care, support individuals during challenging times, and contribute to their overall well-being is incredibly fulfilling to me. I'm also drawn to the dynamic and fast-paced nature of nursing, where every day presents new opportunities to learn and grow both personally and professionally. Ultimately, I see nursing as a calling—a way for me to utilize my skills and empathy to positively impact the lives of others, and I'm excited about the opportunity to make a difference in the healthcare field.

Nursing is such a vast field filled with so many opportunities for growth, so many ways to challenge yourself and even more ways to feel rewarded. The relationships you create with patients will leave a lasting impression for a lifetime. Specifically with oncology nursing, you are creating an environment of comfort during what is perhaps the most challenging times in their lives and that feeling is indescribable.

I cannot stress enough the importance of a strong team and the impact it plays on how care is provided. Working together everyday, collaborating on care, providing compassion together, practicing inclusion and integrity are all the values we practice together as a team. Our teamwork is what allows us to provide the best care for our patients.
