This was the directive the legendary editrix gave to her equally legendary designer, Billy Baldwin, when he helped her decorate her storied New York apartment, as seen in the second photograph by Horst.  I read that Billy snatched up bolts of the infamous crimson chintz without even showing her and for mere dollars a yard at Colefax and Fowler in London and then flew home to drape it on every surface.

Here I am channeling the DV in a vintage frock and the powder room from hell, if you will, at a recent estate sale.  A fellow collector and lover of beauty, I was amused to read another of her quotes as remembered by Billy B:
