Before National Coaches Week ends I wanted to give a big shoutout to two great coaches that I've had the opportunity of working with!

1. Chad Henderson
3 years ago, a "grumpy little man" came walking through the tunnel when I was working with the Langley Rams and yelled out "who is in charge here"  Reluctantly, I put up my hand and said I was.  He said "what do you do"  and I told him I was the team doctor for the Langley Rams.  He said "what would it take for you to come work for me"  I said "excuse me?  Who are you?" Chad told me he was the coach of the North Langley Kodiaks and that he knew nothing about taping ankles or injuries.  He wanted someone who knew what they were doing to take care of that stuff so he could just "coach"  Reluctantly I agreed (not knowing what I was getting into). 3 years later, we won 3 provincal championships!  I'm sad that he has since "retired" from coaching but am thrilled to have had the opportunity to work with him and his teams!

2. Howie Zaron:  Langley Rams
Story:  1.5 years ago, Howie took over the Head Coaching position for the Rams.  We were 1-3 and the time and we met up to discuss the season.  He told me "after this bye week, we won't lose another game all season"  I looked at him very skeptically as things did not look good early in the season.  Of course he was right (minus the loss in the national championship). The team went undefeated the rest of the season and lost to a very good team in the national final.  I have grown to have a lot of respect for Coach Howie and how he treats his staff and players.  He has built a very good Rams team this year and hopes to compete in the National final this year.  His post game speech since he has taken over has grown to be fairly well known: "There are 2 things this team is good at.  One of them is getting 2 points (for the win).
