Meet the Vallarta Mud Turtle 🐢

This small turtle species reaches a maximum length of just four inches! Males have a distinctive yellow scale on their nose that makes them easy to spot. Unfortunately, they are one of the most endangered turtle species in the Wester Hemisphere due to habitat loss.

Thankfully conservation groups like TurtleSurvival and estudiantescn are raising awareness for this species, and are on the ground aiding the population.
