“Being able to interact with the new students...has been really fun. I’ve been able to have different conversations with different individuals and it's been really nice to not only promote NPHC and MGC but be able to learn about those students individually.”

Nyarial Nyoak, a junior Political Science major, spent her summer working in the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life as a Summer Staff member for the National Pan-Hellenic Council. She said that her summer position has helped her to gain enhanced public speaking skills.

“I’ve gotten my elevator pitch down pretty well. I’m the type of person to babble, but since I’ve been coming into close contact with people fairly quickly, I’ve been able to pick up on that skill and give my whole spiel in 30 seconds.”

In addition to public speaking skills, Nyarial said she gained experience working with people in a variety of positions that will benefit her for years to come.

“Having to do different projects, working with different individuals within the university both above me and below me, has been really helpful for the future. Overall, those interactions have been really positive.”
