I’ve been delaying this post for a while now, not sure how to correctly articulate my feelings. I have decided to end my contract with brooksrunning and leave brooksbeaststc . This was an incredibly difficult decision because my passion for running and competition is as strong as ever; however, the string of injuries that I experienced throughout the last year and a half has made it evident that my body cannot currently handle the volume and intensity of training that is necessary to be a professional runner.

Since the age of 10, I have prioritized athletic achievement over everything else, including my health. I didn’t realize the toll that it was taking on me until I reached my breaking point. So it’s time for me to do what I should have all along: put my mental and physical health first. This isn’t me retiring from professional running, it’s just me taking a step back.

This is heartbreaking for me because all I want to do is train so hard and compete at the highest level, but I know that I can’t do that right now. I’m making this decision in the hope that some time to heal and become stronger will let me train at a high level when I return.

I am sad to leave Brooks, and I wish that I could have done more to represent the brand when I was on the Beasts. I am incredibly appreciative toward brooksrunning and brooksbeaststc for their support during the last 2 years. Even though I didn’t run as fast or win as many races as I wanted to, I hope that my openness with my struggles can shed light on how honest and respectable of a company Brooks is. They helped me pursue treatment and continued to support me even when injuries sidelined me for most of 18 months. It was ultimately my idea to step away from the team, and I didn’t feel forced into this decision. So thank you to Brooks, it was an honor to wear your kit 🤗

P.S. luckily most of my favorite memories with the Beasts are ones I made off the track, and imma keep making those.
