The past few days have been brutal for Oregonians. Anyone who has been blessed to visit or live in the unparalleled natural beauty here, feels the tragic loss acutely. Our unique, stunning Cascades are burning. The 2020 SOMD poster is the second in a three-part series that is meant to celebrate Oregon’s breathe-taking wonder. We believe this image can serve to remind us all that our home, though tragic now, will one day rise from the ash and be green again. The spirit of Oregon is eternal. #goducks #oregonstrong

The artist is danecozens. Cozens is an illustrator living in Atlanta, Georgia. He says his art mixes the rustic and wild with the sublime.

“As a child, I learned to draw from the backseat of my family's minivan. I was homeschooled on the road, and between lessons, I would look out the car window, imagining creatures and people living in the forests and fields beyond the highway. This has left me with a deep connection to American imagery and folklore. Through art, I explore how much this culture and land affects me.”


This poster is the second in a three-part series created by Cozens and will be the centerpiece of much of our upcoming print and digital materials featuring faculty members.
