## Caption

Canisius sent two varsity eights to the Scholastic Rowing Association of America championships, and both came home with national top-five finishes.
 
It marked the first time since 2014 that Canisius raced both the Varsity Eight and Second Varsity Eight at the SRAAs. Both crews took fifth after impressive performances in Camden, N.J. on Memorial Day Weekend.
 
“I am beyond proud of the team,” said CHS coach Jacob Filby ’14.

The Varsity Eight crew of Max Burget ’24, Peter Cross ’24, Liam Feeney ’25, Isaiah Aljuwani ’25, Ethan Pirigyi ’26, Alex Pusateri ’24, Thomas Skowron ’25, James Dodman ’24 and coxswain Teddy Hibbard ’25 earned CHS’ first Grand Final appearance since 2011 and only the third in history.
 
The Second Varsity Eight, stroked by lone senior Mark Kadiev and supported by Owen Gray ’26, Meer Renschler Pandey ’25, Oliver Reynolds ’26, Kohler Stewart ’25, Aydan Weese ’25, Evan Dahl ’26, Matt Zakrzewski ’25 and Noah Rajecki ’25, earned the first finals appearance for CHS since 2013.
 
The Crusaders’ Junior Four of Zack Benczkowski ’26, Patrick Basil ’26, Trevor Wierzbowski ’25, Toe Toe ’25 and Leo Mertz ’26 made the semifinals.
 
Brodie Vitko ’27, Von Kramer ’27, Zach Bialkowski ’27 and Stas Ryskin ’27, finished sixth in the Grand Final of the Freshman Quadruple Sculls.

Canisius next heads to the Canadian Secondary Schools Rowing Association regatta in St. Catharines, Ontario on May 31 to June 2. Canisius then is at USRowing’s Youth National Championships in Florida on June 6-9.
