There were at least 91 properties damaged with 21 of them being completely destroyed or having major damage, said Brett McIntyre with Polk County Emergency Management. The most severe damage was west of Des Moines.

White Oak, in northern Polk County, was one of several communities hit by a tornado outbreak in Iowa on May 21, 2024.
