@runewark Senior Daniel Pyle chose @uchicago after being accepted at institutions that include @yale, @columbia, and @cornelluniversity. ⁣
⁣
How did he do this?⁣
⁣
Outside of endless hard work, The Ronald E. McNair Program. It was established to honor Dr. McNair, who was the second African-American ever to fly in space. The mission of the program is to prepare students from low-income, first-generation, and underrepresented backgrounds for doctoral studies.⁣
⁣
“I would have been lost without this program,” says Pyle. “I wouldn’t have known where to go next because I didn’t even know that graduate school was an option.” In addition to exposure to graduate schools and Ph.D. programs, the program program was offering him an annual stipend, the opportunity to attend professional research conferences and one-on-one guidance on applying to graduate school.⁣
