Adirondacks: The Most Magical Winter Destination in Upstate New York ❄️

Exclusively open at The Wild Center during the winter is where you’ll find Wild Lights, a place that’s turned the outdoors into a magical, winter wonderland paradise. There was so much to do at the wildcenter, I couldn’t have asked for a better weekend getaway. This was my first time visiting Tupper Lake and I already can’t wait to go back. So if you’re looking for fun activities to do in the Winter, save this post when planning your visit ⬇️

📆 When to go?
Fridays and Saturdays from November 24 - February 23. They are also open every day during Winter Week, Holiday Week, and President’s Week.

⏰ What time to visit?
5pm - 8pm

🚗 How to get there?
I recommend renting a car and driving since there are no direct bus or train lines. The closest train from NYC will drop you off in Westport, but you’ll have to rent a car to drive to The Wild Center anyways.

🗒️ What is there to do?
First, start off exploring The Wild Walk while it’s bright outside. There are thousands of lights surrounding the trail as you’ll feel like you’re walking in an enchanted forest.
Then, check out “Hopscotch,” Patrick Dougherty’s Stickwork sculpture, where Patrick Dougherty and hundreds of others have woven thousands of saplings together illuminating in light.
Next, head back inside and grab some hot cocoa. You’ll probably want to warm up from the cold as there’s also a gift shop to buy souvenirs.
Lastly, experience a peaceful walk at Forest Music as you’ll be surrounded by 130+ trees covered in colorful lights with music playing throughout your walk.

💰 How much does it cost?
Non-members: Adults $10, Children $5, Kids under 4 are free.
Members: Adults $5, free for children under 18.
Tickets are not required prior to arrival but due to high demand, tickets are likely to sell out.
