5 Ways I’ve Survived Solo Travel ✨🛩️

When I first quit my job to travel the world, I had no idea what I would do to survive. I didn’t know how long I’d survive for — all I knew was that I wanted to travel the world and take photos. I was figuring it out as I went, but I wouldn’t have been able to do so if I missed one of these five steps. Here’s how ⬇️

💻 Build a social media presence
Consistency is important. From sharing travel stories to personal stories and experiences, I’ve been building my social channels for 4 years. It’s definitely worked to my benefit, built trust with people and brands, and has allowed me to travel to places.

💳 Stack credit card points
Because of credit card points and miles, I haven’t paid full price for a flight or a hotel in 6 years. It’s been my bread and butter to my abilities to travel the world for free and if I could be honest, I think I’m slightly a bit more obsessed with credit cards than photography. 🗣️ Network constantly
The internet is a great place where it speeds up the process of getting to know people. Although it’s more personal putting a face to the name, it’s allowed me to connect with people before I’d visit cities/countries.

✍️ Build on a skill
For me, this was photography. There’s still SO much I need to learn, but if it wasn’t for the burning desire to capture the world, I wouldn’t have ever quit my job in the first place.

🥂 Have fun
Sometimes it was hard to remember this step, but having fun is equally as important as the rest. If you’re not right in the headspace, it’s almost impossible to appreciate the physical location you’re traveling to. Take a deep breath, slow down, tune in, and breathe.
