🔥Introducing 2020 Wildland Fire Digital Storytelling Micro-Grant Winner Jonathan Kirshner (meatandpotatoes)!🔥

Jonathan was selected in the Photography category and is one of our US winners.

ABOUT JONATHAN: Recently becoming a new perm on an Interagency Hotshot Crew, I was originally introduced to wildfire as an 18-year-old aspiring photojournalist who traveled along in the buggies of nearby hotshot crews. After working as a newspaper staff photographer, I returned to wildland fire in my thirties and continue to enjoy documenting moments that happen in our jobs. I've worked on IHC's, T2IA crews, prescribed fire modules and exclusive use helitack programs.

JONATHAN'S PROJECT VISION: From my very first day on the fireline, I've been drawn to wildland firefighting's unique culture and work environment. This project will continue the efforts to help illustrate the day-to-day realities of hard work, teamwork and the adaptability found within the men and women working to protect and help our wildlands.

FAVORITE THING ABOUT WILDLAND FIRE: A good piece of hotline, IA from a helicopter and firing ops are my favorite parts of the job - to be involved in those moments, with great people, in ruggedly beautiful locations, working towards a shared goal.
