- it may seem like a very obscure play, but I love the awareness and hockey IQ of Shesterkin here. Carter Verhaeghe creates some time and space in behind the defense. As the past comes to him, he has his back to Shesterkin . He knows this gives him an advantage and he actively breaks the play up to disrupt possession. Preventing opportunities is a trademark of an elite level goaltender.
