ONGOING SHIPWRECK STUDY on Little Talbot Island! The Lighthouse Archaeological Maritime Program team has been working on the shipwreck on Little Talbot Island that is from the 1800s — discovered in 1987. The LAMP team recorded it after Hurricane Dorian in 2019, and went to investigate it this week, and discovered that it has shifted after the recent hurricanes in 2022. From Archaeologist Chuck Meide, "Over the last 30 years it has been buried and exposed and reburied by storms, and has been moved by major hurricanes. LAMP came out to assess its condition after Hurricane Dorian, Ian and now Nicole. We are hoping to study the wreckage and see if we can narrow down the date range and geographic origins for the ship, and possibly its identity."

SHIPWRECK ARTIFACTS + MORE! The Conservation Lab at the St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum conserves artifacts recovered from shipwrecks investigated by the Lighthouse Archaeology Maritime Program (LAMP), the research arm of the Museum. View some of these artifacts in the PGA Artifact Conservation Lab Viewing Hallway, and in the Keepers' House Basement in an exhibit titled WRECKED!: The Story of a Revolutionary War Shipwreck in St. Augustine.

The St. Augustine Lighthouse & Museum is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tickets & Details: staugustinelighthouse.org
