Do you ever find yourself feeling wildly overwhelmed by all of the do's and don'ts different fitness gurus preach on social media?⁣
⁣
I know I certainly do and I'm a fitness coach myself! This is why I am starting a new series of posts called #MythBustingwithMichael where I will be addressing the most commonly asked questions I get asked by members of the MI Coaching Community and the myths behind the questions.⁣
⁣
This week's question is: "How do I speed up my metabolism?" 🤔 ⁣
⁣
The first thing I think when I hear this question is "How many calories are you consuming?", as the most common myth in the weight loss world is that weight loss = extremely low-calorie consumption. ⁣
⁣
While a calorie deficit is one of the most effective ways to lose weight, it is easy to confuse a healthy calorie deficit with eating so few calories that you actually slow your metabolism, stop losing weight, and are unable to function. ⁣
⁣
A sustainable calorie deficit is a period of time in which you very slowly reduce your calorie intake from your maintenance level in small intervals- it really should not be extreme at all! ⁣
⁣
Besides consuming a functional and healthy amount of calories, increasing your N.E.A.T (non-exercise activity) through walking is a great way to support your metabolism! 🚶‍♂️⁣
