Meet Alexander Walters, representing USAPL in Indiana! 💪 As the State Chair, he's dedicated to fostering strength, community, and excellence in powerlifting across the Hoosier State.

🔥"I’ve been involved in powerlifting for about 6 years. I got into the sport because I was already lifting quite often, and being as competitive as I am, knew signing up for a meet was something I’d want to do. I was right and I became hooked... I decided to run for state chair, because I wanted to help influence lifters state wide in a similar way to how I did in my local community."

🔥"My Goals are fairly broad. I want to increase the membership of the state, increase the number of national and higher ranked referees, and increase the number of meets. In the last two months of 2023, we had at least 4 new referees pass their practical and written exams...My one specific goal for the next 3 years is to bring a Regional Meet to Indiana. I believe we are in a perfect spot to do so..."

🔥"The thing that makes me so passionate about powerlifting is the raw emotion people show at competitions. The eruptions of joy when someone makes a third attempt, or they achieve a new Pr, gets me every single time. I can’t tell you how many times a celebration from a lifter gives me chills or even makes me a little teary eyed. It’s what has driven me to become a higher ranked referee. I hope to witness more of those sorts of moments on a national stage, possibly even in the chief referee seat. Watching a huge lift with a lot on the line, the celebration, the crowd cheer. It’s great as a spectator. It’s on a whole different level when you’re one of the people tasked with judging the lift to the standards of the federation. It’s truly hard to describe. Just talking about it gives me more chills."
