It’s no secret that the blue domes of Santorini and beach clubs of Mykonos are some of the most sought after travel sites, but, believe it or not, there are still some hidden gems to be discovered in Greece. One of which will actually make you feel like you’re on the moon 🌚. Sarakiniko beach, located on the island of Milos, is one of the country’s most underrated destinations. Its moon-like rocks and bone-white craggy cliffs make for a geological marvel, however, there’s even more treasure to be seen underneath the surface where divers can explore sea caves and remnants of shipwrecks. ⁠

Luckily, in Greece, it doesn’t take much to make it to the moon. You can spend the day on this beauty of a beach by catching a 2-hour ferry ride from Athens. The ideal time to visit is between May and October, and, if you can time it correctly, we suggest going later in the afternoon to catch golden hour where the golds and pinks of sunset are stunningly reflected on the beach’s white rocks. Once you’ve filled your entire camera roll with pictures of the lunar landscape, there’s plenty to do around the island like swimming, snorkeling, cliff jumping, or booking a sailboat tour that takes you around the coves and to nearby hotspots like Kleftiko.⁠
