The Emergency Department (ED) nurses at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) have consistently demonstrated their enthusiasm, perseverance, and dedication. The Nursing Leadership Team is reminded daily of how lucky they are to work alongside such a strong group of professionals.

Julie Kurkowski MSN, RN, CEN, Level 4 Clinical Nurse from HUP's ED said: 

"In this COVID-19 pandemic, the compassion, presence, empowerment, collaboration and accountability of the team in HUP’s Emergency Department have been nothing short of extraordinary. While every day in the Emergency Department provides us with an opportunity to experience resounding triumphs and devastating hardships, in this Year of the Nurse we have come to more deeply understand people’s ability to provide empathetic, dedicated and evidence-based care."
