#MeetEmMonday: Purchase College junior Alex Doskoez was named the inaugural Skyline Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the 2021 season, it was announced Monday.

Doskoez (Eastport, NY) claimed the honor after a truly dominating performance against SUNY Maritime Sunday, as he tossed a nine-inning complete game, allowed just one run on two hits and finished with 14 strikeouts in a 2-1 win.

With the double-digit strikeouts, Alex tied the program's record for most K's in a game by a single pitcher, as he matched the mark Albert Baez '11 collected during a win over NYU-Poly in 2011. 

Doskoez also tallied five 1-2-3 innings on the day, including the ninth frame during which he fanned Maritime's two, three and four hitters to secure the victory.

Following the historic performance, the Panthers moved to 4-4 overall and 2-4 in Skyline Conference games. As for Alex, the win came in just his second career appearance for Purchase after he collected a no decision last weekend against Manhattanville College.

Up next for Doskoez and the Panthers is more Skyline Conference action, as the team is set to travel to Farmingdale State College on March 27th. First pitch is scheduled for noon. #PurchaseCollegeAthletics #PantherPride
